Meetup.me (“we,” “our,” or “us”) is based in the Sultanate of Oman and operates the Meetup.me mobile application and website at meetup.me, a meeting scheduling and booking app. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over your data.
1 Information We Collect
Account information — your name, email address, phone number, and password (stored encrypted).
Meeting and booking information — meeting details you create or are invited to, such as date, time, title, location/link, and the names and contact details of participants.
Calendar access (if enabled) — if you connect a calendar (e.g. Google Calendar, Outlook), we access only what’s needed to check availability and sync bookings.
Device and usage data — basic technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, and general feature usage.
Notifications — a device token used to send meeting reminders and booking updates, if enabled.
2 How We Use Your Information
- Create and manage your account
- Let you schedule, book, reschedule, and manage meetings
- Send reminders and notifications about your bookings
- Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or misuse of the Service
- Maintain and improve app performance and reliability
- Comply with our legal obligations in Oman
We do not use your data for third-party advertising, and we do not sell it to anyone.
3 Who We Share Your Information With
- People you meet with — meeting details are naturally visible to the people you invite or who invite you.
- Infrastructure providers — hosting and cloud storage providers used solely to operate the app; they don’t use your data for their own purposes.
- Legal requirements — disclosure where required by Omani law, court order, or to protect safety.
- Business changes — if Meetup.me is involved in a merger or acquisition, data may transfer under the same privacy protections.
We do not share your data with third parties for advertising, analytics resale, or any other unrelated commercial purpose.
4 Cross-Border Data Transfers
If any of your data is stored or processed outside Oman (for example, by a cloud hosting provider), we only do so with appropriate safeguards in place, consistent with Oman’s Personal Data Protection Law (Royal Decree No. 6/2022). We do not transfer your data internationally in a way that would cause you harm or violate applicable law.
5Data Retention
We retain your account and booking data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where retention is required for legal, security, or administrative reasons.
6 Your Rights
In line with Oman’s Personal Data Protection Law, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate or outdated data
- Request deletion of your personal data
- Withdraw consent at any time (e.g. disconnect your calendar, disable notifications)
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format

7 Children’s Privacy
Meetup.me is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can remove it.
8 Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures, such as encryption and access controls, to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. No system is 100% secure, but we work to keep your information safe.
9 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email.
